Privacy Policy
1. Data We Collect
BillCat is a local desktop application. All invoice data, customer information, and product details are stored locally on your Mac using SQLite. We do not collect or transmit personal data to our servers.
2. Cloud Sync (Optional)
If you enable cloud sync, invoice records are stored in Supabase (our cloud backend) associated with your account. This allows multi-device access and backup. You can disable sync at any time in Settings.
3. Invoice Hosting
When you send a WhatsApp bill, BillCat generates a hosted invoice page stored in our Supabase storage bucket. This page is publicly accessible via its unique URL (billcat.in/invoice/...). It contains:
- Store name, phone, and address
- Customer name and phone number
- Invoice items, amounts, and dates
These pages are used to allow your customers to view and download their bill. They are not indexed by search engines and are only accessible via the unique URL.
4. WhatsApp
BillCat uses WhatsApp Web running in a local background browser session on your Mac. We do not have access to your WhatsApp account, messages, or contacts. All WhatsApp automation happens locally on your device.
5. No Advertising
We do not use advertising networks, analytics trackers, or sell any data to third parties.
6. Mobile App (Android and iOS)
The BillCat mobile app is a companion to the desktop software. It is read-only: it displays figures your shop computer has already recorded, and it cannot create, edit or delete any of your shop data.
To use it you sign in with your BillCat account (email and password). We store your email address to identify your account. Once signed in, the app reads only your own shop's records from our Supabase backend:
- Bills: totals, discounts, payment method, date and the items sold
- Products and stock levels
- Customer names recorded on your bills
This information is visible only to your own signed-in account, is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and is never sold or shared with third parties.
The app contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking software, and does not use an advertising ID. It does not access your contacts, photos, files, camera, microphone or location.
To delete your account and the data stored in the cloud for it, contact support@billcat.in and we will remove it.
